Our client based in Farnborough has an excellent opportunity to join their team as an Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer on a permanent basis.
As an apprentice in Manufacturing Engineering, you will support the day-to-day manufacturing ensuring all processes function efficiently and produce repeatable results, along with continuous improvement activities.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Define manufacturing processes and controls using lean manufacturing techniques.
2. Provide technical assistance to other departments in the resolution of any problems on existing products.
3. Continually work to improve the manufacture of products to eliminate both rework and scrap.
4. Prepare/update new/existing manufacturing documentation and tooling required for product manufacture, responsible for delivering process and documentation to meet defined process time (cost).
5. Support the identification of key characteristics or critical to quality functions.
6. Perform basic design calculations and simple mechanical or thermal analyses.
7. Comply with current technology export control legislation and all regulatory requirements.
8. Collaborate with the Innovation team and keep abreast of current/developing technologies.
9. Participate in internal and design reviews, bids, proposals, and CI activities, asking questions and taking detailed notes.
10. Apply knowledge and skill to assist in the introduction of new technology to improve quality and productivity.
11. Work with the Product Engineers and other team members, contributing to project plans and performing assigned tasks.
12. Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals to customers for further work.
13. Liaise with Engineering and other Departments to produce cost estimates for new product designs.
14. Generate and maintain PFMEAs.
15. Create and deliver presentations to other employees, customers, and suppliers with support from more senior engineers.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
1. An interest in engineering.

3. Ideally, some work experience, but this is not essential, working as part of a team and supporting production and operations.
4. The ability to work in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
5. Implement solutions to help improve machine reliability and quality issues.
