Job Title: Employee Relations Officer Location: Glasgow, UK Contract Type: 9-Month FTC Working Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week Salary: £26,500 Total Salary Overtime Reporting to the ER Specialist, the People ER (Employee Relations) Officer serves as the first point of contact for all employee relations and people-related queries from City colleagues and managers. They deliver consistent, high-quality advice in line with City policies, procedures, best practice guides, and supporting documents. The Officer is responsible for escalating complex cases to the ER Specialist when necessary, and for accurately logging and tracking case details across relevant systems. The role is focused on providing clear, reliable guidance that minimises risk and ensures a professional, customer-focused service at all times. Key Responsibilities: Acts as the first point of contact for all People/ER-related telephone and email enquiries, ensuring timely and professional responses in line with SLAs. Provides advice and administrative support across a range of ER matters (e.g., absence, discipline, grievance), including minute-taking and preparing documentation. Delivers clear and consistent advice in line with internal policies, procedures, best practice, and relevant legislation. Maintains accurate and up-to-date ER data in systems like Cascade and manual trackers, ensuring information is reliable and accessible. Identifies and escalates complex or high-risk employment matters to ER Specialists promptly to ensure appropriate handling. Builds rapport with stakeholders through confident, open communication, while working collaboratively with the wider People team to support business needs. Qualifications / Experience: Essential Good working knowledge of Employment Law and ongoing Case Law. Experience handling a variety of ER cases: absence, performance management, investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, appeals and all types of absence management cases, across different levels of seniority. The ideal candidate: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Time-management skills. Ability to work under pressure.
