We are looking for a Temporary Works Designer to join our HS2 jv team in London.
You’ll:
1. Ensure that a design brief has been established with full consultation, is adequate, in accordance with the actual situation on site, and that all construction loads are considered;
2. Advise the permanent works designer of any temporary conditions or loads that should be considered in the permanent works design;
3. Ensure that the design is independently checked for concept, structural adequacy and compliance with the brief
4. Ensure SHEQ hazards and risks have been eliminated or reduced in the design. Where not feasible clearly highlight and ensure the Delivery Team are informed of the residual risks to be controlled.
5. Ensure the delivery teams are provided with safe, workable temporary works in timely manner to suit programme via in-house design or supplier/subcontract design checks.
6. Work in accordance with SCSJV procedures for TW management.
7. Prepare of Design Risk Assessments illustrating the development of design mitigation measures and communication with others in the construction process.
We’re looking for:
8. Civil or Structural Engineering Qualification, preferably BEng or higher (MEng, MSc), minimum of a HNC/HND (essential)
9. Chartered Membership of Professional Body (CEng MICE or similar, essential)
10. Previous experience of temporary works design (essential)
11. Understanding and application of BS5975:2008 +A1 2011 (essential)
12. Thorough understanding and application of the CDM Regulations 2015 (essential)
13. Previous experience of TW schemes in and around existing structures, especially NR (ideal)
14. CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Course (ideal)
15. Completed SMSTS (ideal)
