The Senior Support Worker will coordinate and lead on the Bromley by Bow Centre’s day care service for adults with a range of abilities and needs, including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, dementia, and mental ill health.
The role will oversee the day-to-day running of the service and lead a small team of support staff, workshop tutors, volunteers, and student placements. They will be responsible for ensuring all current and newly referred individuals receive high-quality, person-centred support. They will lead and support training and development within the team and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to staff.
To ensure the Senior Support Worker establishes and maintains contact and involvement with those accessing the service, an element of their role will be direct support provision. They will be responsible for preparing and maintaining up-to-date support plans and coordinating the provision of high-quality, personalised care designed around individual abilities, needs, and choices.
Central to the role will be the development of activities in arts and creativity and in building life skills, including healthy eating, physical activity, money management, and digital skills, promoting independence, wellbeing, and inclusion within the community.
They will ensure good working practices are established and maintained with those accessing the service, their families/carers, and commissioners. Key to the job will be a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, ensuring a positive, engaging, and promotional role with local authorities.
