Norse Consulting are looking to hire a Design/Intermediate Structural Engineer to play an active role in the production of high-quality structural engineering designs in the education, housing, leisure, and commercial sectors. The role would suit a pre-Chartered graduate engineer with a minimum of 2-4 years post-graduate experience who is looking to develop their design skills and experience as they move toward Chartered status, with full support from senior colleagues to achieve that.
In collaboration with the Associate Structural Engineer and the Engineering Director, this position is responsible for the structural analysis and design of projects within both 2D and 3D environments, the production of drawings, sketches, and specifications, and to take a lead role in the cross-discipline coordination of projects with architectural and building services engineering colleagues. Experience and a desire to develop skills in designing and coordinating projects within a 3D modelling space is required. The successful candidate will be given opportunities to develop and grow quickly into areas of greater responsibility and leadership where appropriate desire and skills lead.
Main Responsibilities:
* Liaise with the structural engineering team to plan workload and resource.
* Completion of structural engineering design to agreed quality, cost, and time targets.
* Develop cross-discipline project coordination with architectural and building services engineering design colleagues.
* Support the delivery of high-quality management and delivery of projects and programmes to the required quality, cost, and agreed timescales.
* Achieve successful client relationships and ensure clients receive sound professional advice.
* Maintain good quality project files and records; update systems and financial reports.
* Responsible for identifying new business opportunities.
* Fee earning at 90%, and contribute to the achievement of business plan objectives and targets.
* This role requires frequent travel to other offices and sites as required.
* Carry out duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
* Promote continuous improvement and deliver demonstrable high-quality products and services which embrace quality standards.
* Demonstrate personal commitment to the Norse Way CSR strategy.
Candidate Requirements:
* Graduate membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers – Essential
* Degree, BEng or MEng, and working towards Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer status – Essential
* Holds a current site card or is prepared to immediately attain – Essential
* Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structural Design, or equivalent software analysis and design packages - Essential
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite – Essential
* Familiar with relevant design codes of practice across all main materials - Essential
* Familiar with construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards associated with asbestos – Desirable
* Familiar with legislative and behavioural requirements around the Building Safety Act - Desirable
* Experience in a similar or related role of between 2-4 years post-graduate - Desirable
