What's involved with this role: Temporary Planning Validation Technician/Admin Job Ref: NW Leicestershire 5254529 Pay Rate: Up to £15.75 per hour PAYE depending on experience Hours per week: 36.25 hours normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6 months City: Coalville, Leicestershire The purpose of the role is to support professional staff by validating planning applications and processing tree preservation order and footpath diversion orders and other relevant development management work. Key Responsibilities: Validate planning applications. Liaise with specialist sections and other service areas of the council, and all other relevant statutory bodies. Validate, determine and maintain records for the discharge of conditions attached to planning permissions. Deal with administrative tasks in relation to planning appeals. Undertake history searches, condition compliance requests and permitted development inquiries. Display site notices for planning applications, Tree Preservation Orders and Public Footpath Diversion Orders Response to enquiries from members of the public, applicants/agents, members, enforcement and team colleagues. Qualifications: Maths and English GCSE 9 Grade A - C or equivalent. Skills & Experience: Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation. Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with others. Experience of effectively using bespoke software systems to check and validate documents. Good influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to train others on how to validate planning applications Ability to review and make positive changes to the way the council validates planning applications. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite, Adobe Pro).
