We are hiring a Buyer & Contract Manager to join our team. This position combines buying and contract management with category expertise in fresh food and coffee. The role involves ensuring supplier quality and optimizing costs.
This role is a fixed term contract for approx. 12 months (dependent on start date), which will be reviewed around April 2026.

Your Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Supplier Relationship Management
* Establish and nurture partnerships with suppliers, fostering collaboration and long-term value.
* Negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms, sustainability commitments, and consistent quality.
* Cultivate and maintain relationships with partners and suppliers, fostering collaborative efforts and ensuring mutual success.
* Monitor the implementation and performance of supplier contracts ensuring Selecta and suppliers adhere to and meet requirements, duties, and obligations in line with the contract.
Strategic Collaboration
* Work closely with the Group Procurement Hot Drinks Leader to execute procurement strategy tailored specifically to the UK&I market.
* Effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners to ensure flawless execution of strategy.
* Implement the ONE Selecta Coffee Strategy aimed at increasing revenue and gross margin, with a primary focus on strengthening the position and growth of Selecta's Coffee Brands in the UK&I market.
Procurement Process Leadership
* Implement ONE Selecta procurement strategies & contracts locally to the UK&I market.
* Provide procurement process expertise & guidance to other departments including support for new supplier set up and the Delegation of Authority processes.
Sustainability and Ethics
* Ensure sourcing practices support sustainability goals, such as fair-trade coffee, organic certifications, and reduced food waste.
* Lead initiatives to integrate ethical sourcing and environmentally friendly practices.
Quality Assurance
* Work with quality assurance teams to ensure suppliers meet high standards for freshness and product integrity.
* Implement robust processes for vendor performance monitoring and improving efficiency.
Risk Management
* Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, such as supply disruptions or seasonal variability.
Minimum Requirements:
* Category Knowledge – Desirable understanding of the fresh food and coffee industries, including sourcing, supply chain, and market dynamics.
* Negotiation Skills - Expertise in securing optimal supplier agreements and driving win-win outcomes.
* Analytical Skills - Proficiency in using data to inform decisions, analyze supplier performance, and track category trends.
* Sustainability Knowledge - Familiarity with certifications (e.g., Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance) and best practices in sustainable sourcing.
* Communication - Strong communication skills to collaborate with teams and influence internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships and drive mutual value.
* Ability to work independently with a high sense of responsibility, managing multiple priorities and driving results in a fast-paced environment.
