Duty Engineer - SEN
As Duty Engineer, you will lead the Line Maintenance team to ensure a strong, efficient operation that meets easyJet’s planned and unscheduled maintenance needs. You’ll foster a supportive culture by promoting engagement, recognising achievements, and driving performance management to encourage team growth. When needed, you’ll also step in for the Management team to maintain seamless operations and deliver top-tier maintenance services with an uncompromising commitment to safety and operational excellence. Safety is our highest priority, and in this role, you’ll ensure that all in-house maintenance activities meet both regulatory requirements and easyJet’s industry-leading standards.
What you’ll be doing:
In this role, you will deputise for the Management team during leave periods as needed, managing individual team performance to drive engagement. Responsibilities include reviewing allocated resources to ensure prompt defect rectification, building strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers to promote a “One Team” ethos, and advising the Production Support team of potential service disruptions. You will set task priorities to ensure safe, on-time departures, complete and certify documentation, monitor delay reports, and maintain equipment and facilities to Health & Safety standards. Additional duties include assisting with aircraft departures, performing thorough shift handovers, recording deferred defects, ordering spares, and using your license/approval to accomplish scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to meet operational standards efficiently and safely.
What you’ll need to do the role:
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in an engineering and maintenance environment, with a UK Part 66 B1 and/or B2 license (or equivalent) and authorisation on company aircraft. You will have up-to-date knowledge of airworthiness legislation and at least 5 years of operational experience in a line maintenance environment. Strong communication skills, a high degree of customer focus, and the ability to lead and inspire change in diverse teams are essential. Flexibility to meet deadlines, overcome operational challenges, and drive continuous improvement is key. A solid understanding of Health and Safety legislation and proficiency in IT are also required.
Location & Hours of Work:
This full-time role will be based in Southend working a DDDD 12 hour shift. Shift pattern will 4x4 with occasional travel requirements to easyJet’s headquarters or network locations.
