An opportunity for a School Admissions Assistant - (Admin & Clerical) has arisen with the local authorities on a 3 Month contract
Pay Rate: £16.07 Per Hour (PAYE) plus Holiday pay.
Location: BS23 1UJ
Working Hours: 18 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Job Purpose:
Working under the general supervision of the Pupil Places and Planning Manager and the School Admissions Officers, the Admissions Assistant will:
(a) Assist with the admission of pupils to all Infant, Junior, Primary, and Secondary Schools within North Somerset.
(b) Allocate school places under the supervision of the School Admissions Officers.
(c) Provide a professional and helpful advisory service to the public, schools, and colleges, referring to the School Admissions Officers when necessary.Typical involvement will include:
Respond promptly and effectively to enquiries received via telephone, email, and in writing regarding school admissions.
Record and update school applications on the team's database, tracking pupil movement within North Somerset.
Process and prepare documentation for school admission appeals for presentation by the School Admissions Officers.
Assist with preparing 'in-year' applications for review by the School Admissions Officers and process decisions as appropriate.
Help gather and manage data on school capacity, organisation, and pupil numbers across all state-maintained schools in North Somerset.
Support the collection and publication of statutory information for parents and schools concerning admissions and appeals processes.Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 12 months general office experience
Experience working in Education, local government, or public services
Experience working with School Governors or parent-teacher associations
Experience dealing directly with the public
Knowledge of school admissions legislation and policy
Experience using databases, word-processing, spreadsheets, and email
