You’ll assist in creating a safe and engaging learning environment, helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Your role will include offering emotional guidance, fostering positive behaviour, and helping students develop confidence in their abilities. Responsibilities of the SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA): Support teachers in delivering lessons that meet the needs of students with SEMH challenges. Provide one-on-one or group support to students, focusing on their emotional and academic development. Help students build positive relationships and manage their behaviour effectively. Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, inclusive environment. Monitor and report on student progress to teachers and other staff members. Encourage students to develop resilience, self-esteem, and a positive outlook on learning. Requirements for the SEMH Teaching Assistant Role (TA): A strong interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs. Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs (desirable but not essential). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).
