Joining our Research Centre for 21st Century Public Health you will be working with a multi-disciplinary team spanning the Departments for Health, Social and Policy Sciences, Economics, Psychology and Management. The Centre builds on the ground-breaking work of the Tobacco Control Research Group (TCRG) on the harmful products and practices of major corporations; and Bath’s novel approaches to research, policy and practice within complex systems to drive effective action on 21st century public health challenges. About the role As an experienced post-doctoral researcher, you will work in close collaboration with the Centre’s Director of Research and academic members to assist in the delivery of our research strategy. This will include developing an external research profile and enhancing international links through interdisciplinary research collaborations that focus on the Centre’s key thematic areas. You will spend a significant portion of your time developing grant proposals for the Centre and supporting the development of early career researchers, including line management responsibility for research associates and the potential for PhD supervision. This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis. About you In addition to a relevant PhD (or equivalent) and a research background that complements the themes of the Centre you will have: A proactive approach to leading, coordinating and managing the process of applying for research grants Demonstratable ability to increase grant capture and manage grants, including their finances Demonstrable understanding of the public health research landscape, its funders and actors Excellent interpersonal skills and proven record of fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and relationships with other key stakeholders Commitment to achieving research excellence and leading colleagues in the same No existing or previous work or links with the tobacco and nicotine industry and able to declare any interests with unhealthy commodity industries (full details included under Special Conditions in the job description).
