Position: Strategic Key Business Development Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 Basic (experience dependent)

Our client is a world leading manufacturer of bespoke mechanical components for applications throughout numerous industrial sectors including nuclear, power, oil & gas, food, process, defence, steel, chemical, semiconductor, and pharmaceutical. Established for many years with a turnover exceeding £150 million globally, they are renowned for their manufacturing capabilities and solving complex problems with components that work to the highest tolerances.
They are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Strategic Key Business Development Manager focused on selling complex technical solutions into the oil and gas industry. Ideal candidates will have strong contacts in the region with major oil and gas OEMs, particularly wellhead manufacturers.
This is an opportunity for a dynamic technical sales and major account development professional to work with a major global manufacturer. You will take full responsibility for large oil and gas customers across the Scotland region.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work with regional sales and account teams to segment and penetrate key accounts in the oil and gas, nuclear, and power sectors.
2. Support the General Sales Manager in winning sales throughout project-driven customers and OEMs.
3. Spearhead new client acquisition and develop strategic plans to grow key accounts.
4. Solution sell technical products and work closely with customers to develop the right product for critical applications.
The Candidate:
* Knowledge and experience in manufacturing, components, engineering, technical solutions, and strategic key account management.
* Understanding of the oil and gas market, upstream and downstream, OEMs, Capex projects, and wellhead manufacturers.
* Strong strategic thinker with exceptional business development, relationship building, and key account management skills.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with various levels of stakeholders.
* Proven track record in business-to-business sales; experience in medium to long cycle selling is advantageous.
* Mechanical Engineering background (degree, apprenticeship, or experience in selling mechanical components).
* Willingness to receive product training.
* Able to develop new business opportunities with an eye for upselling/cross-selling.
* Ability to understand customer spending potential and build relationships within key accounts.
