Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is fundamental in contributing to an inclusive and compassionate workplace at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT).
The EDI Team is committed to delivering the EDI strategy, activity and EDI action plans in collaboration with key stakeholders across the Trust. The EDI Team’s remit is workforce related as we recognise the value of our staff. This means overseeing EDI across the entire Trust and sites.
This work is guided by the Equality Act 2010 which outlines nine protected characteristics that provides legal protection from discrimination: age, disability, gender re-assignment, marriage and civil partnership, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation.

Main duties of the job
The Senior EDI Advisor will be responsible for delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across all Directorates and Divisions within the Trust along with People and Culture colleagues locally to embed EDI into the daily functions and activities at EKHUFT.
As an equality, diversity and inclusion subject matter expert, the postholder will work closely with the Head of EDI and EDI Advisor to provide operational support for the delivery of the EDI strategy. Utilising data and insights, they will contribute to the development of EDI, People and Culture plans and strategies. Together they will ensure the Trust meets its statutory and NHS obligations under Equality and Human Rights legislation, Care Quality Commission standards, the NHS Equality Delivery System 2 (EDS2), NHS People Plan and local health economy and regional initiatives.
They will co-manage all corporate business returns such as the Workforce Race Equality Standards (WRES), Workforce Disability Equality Standards (WDES), Gender Pay Gap and EDS2 and take a lead in the coordination of training and development opportunities to support the EDI agenda and delivery of our national and local priorities.
* Engage and collaborate with other teams/services across the organisation to embed the values of EDI.
* Co-ordinate and deliver EDI activities e.g. events, workshops.
* Act as a point of contact for enquiries within EDI.

Qualifications and Skills
* Masters degree or equivalent level of education / proven experience
* Track record of continuous professional development
* Ability to respect that everyone is different, the post-holder will be expected to work in a person-centred and culturally sensitive way
* Awareness of the Equality Act 2010
* Providing coordination or administrative support
* Ability to work as an effective team member
* Experience of prioritising own workload to meet deadlines
* Experience of working with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Experience of difference and diversity e.g. related to lived experience or working with others
* Ability to communicate with others tailored to the needs of individuals, in person and virtually
* Clear communicator with excellent written and presentation skills, capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately to a diverse and varied range of audiences consisting of internal and external stakeholders
* Knowledge and experience of methods in qualitative and quantitative review and evaluation of the EDI service.
* Experience of drafting briefing reports and correspondence at senior management level National NHS Agenda including the People Plan and People Promise including linked national performance targets

The ability to converse easily and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for all customer facing roles.
