Lifestyle Advisor and Health Care Assistant
Greenwich Health delivers NHS Health Checks, smoking cessation support, Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) services, and sexual health walk-in clinics. We are looking to recruit a flexible and motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced patient-centered role.
The post holder will be required to conduct NHS Health Checks, face-to-face and telephone smoking cessation consultations, and provide HCA support for our Long-Acting Reversible Contraception clinics. The post holder will be required to travel to various locations across the Borough of Greenwich.
The post holder will also be required to support our busy patient call centre based at Ferryview Health Centre, assisting patients through the service from managing the referral list, triaging, and booking patients into clinics.
Working Pattern: 40 hours per week (working hours between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, 5 days a week Monday to Sunday on a three-week rota, 1 weekend day 8 am to 4 pm every third week)
Main Duties of the Job
Call Centre
1. Manage incoming and outgoing calls and voicemails.
2. Book LARC, smoking cessation, and NHS Health Check appointments.
NHS Health Checks
1. Deliver NHS Health Check sessions across Greenwich within the Live Well Centres.
2. Create a patient-focused environment to help individuals identify how their behavior might affect their health and wellbeing.
3. Provide telephone or face-to-face support to patients wishing to quit smoking.
4. Advise patients on nicotine replacement therapy options.
5. Provide ongoing support to patients throughout their 12-week quit journey with a patient-centered approach.
Long Acting Reversible Contraception Clinic
1. Act as a LARC assistant to our LARC clinical staff, ensuring the patients feel comfortable and the clinician has appropriate, timely support.

Job Responsibilities
The NHS Health Check aims to help delay or prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, and dementia. Individuals between the ages of 40 - 74, who have not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions or do not have certain risk factors, will be invited every 5 years to have a check to assess their risk and will be given advice to reduce or manage that risk. The NHS Health Check involves measuring blood pressure and pulse, taking a near-patient blood sample to measure cholesterol, measuring height, weight, and BMI, and asking questions and providing lifestyle advice.
Our Smoking Cessation service supports patients for up to 12 weeks with either face-to-face or over the telephone to quit smoking. The post holder will have a patient caseload to support through their smoking journey.
The post holder will support clinicians in our LARC clinics by preparing and clearing away clinical equipment for coil and implant procedures and supporting patients during the procedure. The post holder will provide administration support to the sexual health service.
Training
1. Complete NCSCT e-learning Stop Smoking Practitioner Training.
2. Complete both internal and external NHS Health Check training.
3. Complete practical training alongside colleagues and clinicians for LARC clinics.
4. Complete all mandatory company training, including annual update/refresher training.
5. Attend monthly team meetings.
6. Take an active part in developing own knowledge and skills, particularly the key skills and competencies required to deliver NHS Health Checks, smoking cessation, and LARC support.
7. Keep abreast of changes within the health industry via reading literature, attending seminars, and continuing professional development.
