Salary: £11.52 per hour
We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our established Residential Team at Bay View on a casual basis, covering shifts as needed. You’ll be working in one of our family-feel children’s homes in Carnforth or rural North Lancaster, with a maximum of four young people per home. This opportunity allows you flexibility to work the hours you can commit to with no contractual obligation.
Our service requires individuals who will help guide young people aged 8-18 with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties to success and who are dedicated to supporting our ethos. You will support in providing a safe, secure, homely, and positive environment for the children and young adults in the home so that their lives are progressively improved. All our homes are rated either ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, so we need individuals to continue improving and developing the quality, image, and reputation of the Home.
You must be over 21 years of age and hold a full UK driving license.
It is a requirement that you hold a Diploma Level 3 in Working with Children & Young People.
Principal Accountabilities
* Carry out duties as a Childcare Worker and Key Worker, exceeding National Standards laid down by Ofsted.
* Ensure the highest possible standard of childcare is provided to the children who are resident in the Home.
* Purposefully and systematically improve the lives of all the young people who are resident at the Home.
* Build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with family, friends, and any other external body, as requested by the Registered Manager.
* Contribute to a culture of trust and mutual respect between all involved in the Home, both children and staff.
The Provision of Childcare
* Contribute to the development of appropriate and high-quality care plans for each young person.
* Adhere to all legal requirements, Ofsted standards, and the policies and procedures of Bay View Childcare at all times.
* Communicate feedback received from residents, family, friends, placing authorities, and other relevant parties to the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager by the pre-agreed method.
* Keep the Home clean, tidy, safe, and secure at all times.
* Build constructive and trusting relationships with the children in the Home, ensuring understanding of their personal background and individual needs.
* Be approachable, friendly, and professional, proactively engaging with the children to create an open, positive, and inclusive environment.
* Work proactively and constructively with the children, building relationships and enhancing their quality of life.
* Supervise the children actively and keep them safe, engaging with them as necessary.
* Manage and de-escalate any conflict situations that may arise in line with the policies and procedures of Bay View Childcare.
* Communicate issues and concerns relating to the children to the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, and Shift Leader.
* Conduct risk assessments for new activities as requested.
* Carry out pre-activity assessments for existing activities to ensure safety and effectiveness.
* Engage in activities with the children, acting as a good parent would.
* Discharge responsibilities as a ‘Key Worker’ and ensure all children are treated as individuals.
* Maintain regular and constructive communication with the family and friends of the children for whom you are the ‘Key Worker’.
* Remain positive in participation with the children and in relaying personal life experiences.
* Contribute actively and constructively to reviews of any child for whom you are the ‘Key Worker’.
* Follow all company policies and procedures and complete all necessary paperwork diligently.
* Ensure the quality of food provided to the children meets pre-agreed standards.
* Assist with cooking and purchasing of foodstuffs as required.
