What You Will Do A major responsibility of this role is to develop and lead the delivery of appropriate mandatory and statutory education and training packages to both clinical and non-clinical staff as well as ensuring the continuous development and competence of the Violence & Aggression Team. You will provide specialist advice to the organisation on all issues of Violence & Aggression management including policy formulation and implementation, research, training, equipment procurement and design requirements. The policy and service development responsibilities of this role, relative to the knowledge and understanding of current and impending statutory requirements, impact across all departments and services of NHS Ayrshire & Arran in practice to reduce the risk of injury to both staff and patients. As well as being responsible for the line management of the Violence & Aggression Team, you will also be responsible for the line management of the Occupational Health & Safety Administration Team. For further information on the role please click the link below to view the job description Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job You will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject ( e.g. BSc Professional Practice (Violence Reduction) or have equivalent experience. You will possess specialist knowledge and experience of training, mentorship, education and development to practice, to Masters level equivalent. You should also have an Instructors Certificate in the Management of Violence & Aggression and training in Counselling Skills to at least Certificate level through a course affiliated to British Association of Counselling. You should have substantive experience in violence and aggression management and training in the NHS, other healthcare environment or similar, and experience of management factors relating to successful health and safety performance. You should also have experience in people management, managing change and projects and contributing to strategic and operational developments within identified timescales. You must be digital/IT literate and competent in the use of the suite of Microsoft Office packages. From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings. NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly.
