This post is a 12 month fixed term/secondment vacancy.
An new opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 or Band 6 CAMHS Nurse, to join the Northallerton CAMHS Team.
Northallerton CAMHS are a friendly, multi discipline team, who love to work together to support the needs of children young people and their families.
We support one another at every opportunity and supervision is available regularly and actively encouraged .
As a CAMHS Nurse you will be involved in providing mental health support and advice to children and young people. You will work collaboratively within the local team, whilst working with other CAMHS teams and external providers.
This really is a varied role, in a friendly team where you will be able to develop skills and experience of working with children and young people.
Nursing applicants should already hold NMC registration.
Candidates seeking the Band 6 role must have 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the mental health difficulties experienced by children and young people, and have an understanding of the therapies and other interventions used in treatment. Knowledge and understanding of common Neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASC and ADHD, and how these are assessed and treated, is also a requirement of the post; as is the ability to recognise and manage common physical health complications experienced by children and young people experiencing Mental Health and Neurodevelopmental difficulties.
The successful applicant will be involved in continuous service development, and will work closely with external and internal agencies to review, improve, and deliver services to the community. There is also a requirement to maintain high standards of personal and professional development, and the successful applicant will be expected to train in a specialist modality of therapeutic intervention following their successful preceptorship period.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be qualified as a NMC Registered Nurse from either the Mental Health, Children's, or Learning Disability specialisms.
We would welcome applications from RNMH, RNLD, RSCN or RGN who hold current professional registration with NMC.

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis. In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Qualifications
* Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD (RNSC - CAMHS only ) - RGN (If appropriate)
* To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
* Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Knowledge
* Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
* Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
* Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
* Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
* Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
* Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
Experience
* Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
* Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
* Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
* Working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Working in partnership with other agencies
