What will you be responsible for?
As a Technical Manager you'll be working within the Building Structures team, acting as the lead on structural designs for building control and building safety act compliance, supporting project consultations with building control and other key statutory authorities
Your day to day will include:
* Preparing fee proposals, activity schedules, negotiating appointments, resource planning, line management and risk management, mentoring other structural engineers and technicians, as leader of a regional Building Structures team committed to continuing professional development, acting as the lead structural engineer on major and complex building structures projects
* Carrying out inspections of buildings under construction and of existing buildings identifying and remedying structural defects, producing and checking structural design calculations, preparing, and checking structural drawings, structural design models, structural design strategy reports, specifications, and schedules
* Coordinating structural engineering design information within the civil and structural engineering team and with other technical design disciplines
* Setting and implementing appropriate, structural concept design strategies for projects and monitoring progress against structural sustainability and low carbon targets and complying with Kier information management and QA standards
* Visiting other Kier, designers and clients offices, controlling structural design at project meetings, leading on structural designs for building control and building safety act compliance, supporting project consultations with building control and other key statutory authorities
What are we looking for?
This role of Technical Manager is great for you if:
* You hold professional qualifications such as BSc, MSc, BEng or MEng qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering and Chartered Engineer status as CEng, Member of Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers
* Demonstrate relevant knowledge of operating TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer Masterseries, REVIT, software, producing, knowledge of CDM Regulations, building safety act and UK construction techniques / designing different types of building structures, within a multi-disciplinary design environment, extensive experience of structural steelwork and reinforced concrete design to current European Standards for large and multi-storey permanent building structures
* Seasoned in providing fee proposals and activity schedules of structural engineering design work, to deliver within budgetary and programme constraints, along with a full driving licence in order to visit various sites / offices
