Our responsibility is to deliver quality children's services, early help, education, and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services to children and families in Reading. Our Human Resources team has been an effective, constant pillar supporting the development and nurturing of our people.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available within the School Admissions Team. The post sits within the Education Access and Support service. You will join an established team and become an integral role within the team. The post reports to the School Admissions Team Manager.
Key responsibilities:
1. To assist the BFfC’s duty to fulfil the legal requirement to offer children school places within the timeframes.
2. To accurately enter data and verify applications and other relevant information into the School Admissions system for school admissions within the nationally defined timescales.
3. To respond professionally to queries relating to School admissions via the telephone and email.
4. To work with parents and carers to address and, wherever possible, resolve any concerns/conflict they may have with the Council relating to their individual application.
5. To maintain and keep updated School Admission logs and records concerning applications and waiting lists to ensure the Front Office team can keep parents and carers informed accurately about their applications.
Experience/skills required:
1. Experience of working in a busy office environment either in education or another service sector organisation.
2. Experience of providing information and advice and explaining the impact of complex legislation to customers.
3. Experienced ICT user – ability to use a range of computer packages and systems to co-ordinate, record, and organise the tasks.
4. Knowledge of school admission processes or ability to learn.
