As a Linen Service Operative, you would be responsible for assisting in the provision of an integrated Linen Service and delivery system, providing quality linen and uniform services to Sunderland & South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust and commercial customers.

Main duties of the job
1. To sort, classify and account for all linen sent for processing.
2. To store articles and remove soiling in accordance with Department of Health and Control of Infection guidelines.
3. To undertake full training in all aspects of linen duties and all linen equipment and to participate in rotation.
4. To fold and pack linen ready for distribution.
5. To maintain cleanliness of laundry trolleys.
6. To follow work schedules to assist in the collection of used linen from wards, departments, and theatres.
7. To assist in the sealing of used linen into laundry bags.
8. To ensure laundry trolleys are retained in the correct location.
9. To follow work schedules to assist in the timely delivery of clean linen to wards and departments.
10. To operate any monitoring equipment as required to ensure efficient stock control.
11. To ensure the linen distribution center is maintained in a clean and safe state.
Shift Pattern: Sat-Sun 0700-1500
1x 15 Hrs Permanent Position

Person Specification
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to accept and prioritize instructions.
Physical Skills
* Combination of bending/lifting/standing and walking with frequent requirement for physical effort.
* Ability to work in a busy environment.
* Able to undertake varied manual handling tasks including the use of machinery, movement of beds, and other equipment.
Qualifications
* Basic Numeracy and Literacy education.
Experience
* Experience of working where there is frequent face-to-face contact with a cross-section of the general public.
* Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
* Commercial laundry experience.
