A stimulating and inspiring opportunity to lead an Occupational Therapy team to deliver quality and recovery focused care on adult mental health inpatient wards. As part of CPFT's 3-3-3 time limited inpatient person-centred approach means you will be a critical member of the multi-disciplinary team which works with service users, carers and families to help them gain control of their lives and make positive changes to improve quality of life.
The successful candidate will join an experienced and dedicated team of practitioners to promote and implement the role of occupational therapy within the service. The lead role is essential to ensure the provision of occupational therapy assessments and interventions are underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation (MoHO) and the principles of recovery to enhance the service experience, health and well-being.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have proven clinical skills in working with service users with complex needs. They will be responsible for day-to-day delivery and management of the adult Inpatient OT service based at Fulbourn Hospital. The role requires excellent planning and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise effectively.
The post holder will lead on maintaining effectiveness ensuring that high quality practice is delivered that produces meaningful and demonstrable outcomes, based on best evidence and identifying opportunities for development.
The role will have the opportunity to attend an OT mental health strategy forum and OT Leads meeting and receive professional supervision from a directorate AHP Lead.
Job responsibilities
1. To provide operational management & professional leadership for the in-reach occupational therapy service, including responsibility for the clinical and professional governance of the service.
2. To take a lead role in the set up and delivery of ward based occupational therapy roles and to contribute to on-going review & evaluation.
3. To take a lead role in articulating the refreshed vision for occupational therapy and standards for the in-reach and ward-based services and to review as required.
4. To support the provision of services which promote recovery, resilience & self-management within in-patient areas, in collaboration with nurse leaders.
5. To apply a recognised model of practice (e.g. MoHO) as appropriate to the service area.
6. To lead the in-reach and ward based occupational therapists to develop and implement sensory approaches on the Inpatient wards with support from the directorate Sensory Integration Occupational Therapy Lead.
7. To use evidence-based practice, to ensure clinical care is effective, efficient and appropriate.
8. To use applicable outcome measures & performance data, using these to demonstrate positive impact & quality within both ward based and in-reach occupational therapy services.
9. To promote independence & occupational engagement.
10. Organise and manage own time, prioritising during periods of change and crisis and delegating work appropriately.

Education & Qualifications
Essential
* Degree or equivalent, e.g. BSc, MSc or Diploma entry level qualification into the O.T. profession.
* Current HCPC registration.
* Professional knowledge and training to master's level or equivalent.
* Documented evidence of own continuing professional development and application.
