The purpose of the Role:
Our client is seeking a skilled and driven Intermediate Mechanical (HVAC) Designer to join their team in Manchester. As an Intermediate Mechanical (HVAC) Designer, you will contribute to building services projects through your expertise in HVAC system design and specifications. Your responsibilities will include:
* Developing detailed mechanical (HVAC) designs and drawings for advanced projects.
* Preparing technical specifications and reports that meet high standards.
* Conducting site surveys and assessments to gather essential information.
* Collaborating with architects, electrical engineers, and other professionals to create integrated and efficient systems.
* Ensuring designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
* Proficiently using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-specific tools.
* Leading project meetings and providing technical input.
* Assisting in project management tasks, including budget and schedule management.
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes and practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline with an in-depth focus on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and energy systems.
* Industry Experience: 3-5 years of applied experience in mechanical (HVAC) design within the building services sector. Proven expertise in designing comprehensive HVAC systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, ensuring compliance with performance specifications and client requirements.
* Technical Proficiency: Mastery of industry-standard design software, including AutoCAD and Revit, with the capability to produce detailed mechanical designs, construction documents, and 3D models.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive understanding and application of mechanical (HVAC) codes, standards, and regulations such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, and local building codes. Competence in ensuring all designs comply with relevant regulations and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
* Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, enabling the identification and resolution of design challenges, optimization of system performance, and enhancement of energy efficiency. Ability to conduct detailed feasibility studies and life cycle cost analyses.
* Communication Skills: Superior verbal and written communication capabilities to convey complex technical information effectively to clients, project teams, and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams and to lead technical discussions and presentations.
* Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure precision in design work, adherence to quality standards, and meticulous review of project deliverables. Commitment to delivering high-quality, error-free work that meets or exceeds client expectations.
