An opportunity for a bookkeeper to join the RE Association; administering our grant funding, managing our fundraising revenue and expenditure, in addition to helping to reduce the administrative burden on REA Branches and Honorary Treasurers.
The Royal Engineers Association (REA) is the Regimental Association of the Royal Engineers. Originally founded in 1912 under the name The Royal Engineers Old Comrades Association, the Association acts as a link between service and retired members of the Corps. Beyond aiding, members can join their local or national branch, taking part in activities and meeting like-minded individuals. The REA Grants & Funds Manager is the ‘financial conduit’ between the Branches and a centralised REA bank account in addition to being the point of contact for the grant funding process and assisting the Fundraising Lead with the administration of fundraising revenue and expenditure streams.
Responsibilities:
* Provision of advice on status of grant applications, funds and accounts.

* Maintaining and tracking the funds allocated to each REA Group & Branch.
* Managing and using a separate database to account for and clearly show the income and expenditure of all Groups and Branches using the centralised REA HQ account.
* Providing financial data and reports to support Groups, Branches and REA HQ.
* Generating and reviewing reports for Groups, Branches and REA HQ as required.
* Producing reports in support of the annual audit process with data to be included in the REA Trustee’s Annual Report (TAR) as required by the Charity Commission.
Minimum Requirements:
* Relevant bookkeeping diploma (minimum National Qualifications Framework Level 2)
* Numerate and experience of financial analysis and presentation of data.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Good people skills, good communicator with strong relationship building.
* Intermediate MS Excel qualification and experience of regular spreadsheet work
* Ability to analyse information – able to gather, process, and use information for understanding, decision making, further analysis, forecasting and action.
* Previous experience of working in a financial environment with multiple stakeholders
* Flexible enough to provide a versatile service based on the needs of the branches.
The role will provide a competitive salary of £23,950 (pro rata) plus excellent benefits to include pension, 30 days’ holiday (plus Bank Holidays), and free parking at the workplace. The role starts at 22.5 hours per week and will increase to 30 hours per week as decided by the business based on uptake and may move eventually to full time (37 hours per week).
Armed Forces Covenant – We offer guaranteed interviews to military veterans or their immediate family members if they meet the selection criteria.
