Main duties of the job
As a locality lead you will form a key part of our CCN leadership team. You will be responsible for the management, leadership and coordination of the Community Children’s Nursing (CCN) team within a defined area of Oxfordshire. Taking an operational lead in the development and delivery of an effective nursing service for children, young people and families, with an emphasis on partnership working and integration. You will be instrumental in managing projects and leading programmes of work to enable effective delivery of the service, ensuring it is evidence based.
You will work autonomously to oversee the locality caseload of patients. Safeguarding and advocating for the children/young people known to the service and supporting your staff to do the same.
The Children’s Community Nursing Team offer a rolling education programme, including a full induction for new starters into the team. This role involves on call responsibility by contributing to our "manager on call" rota. Operational weekdays between 4pm-8am and 24/7 weekends and bank holidays. Training and support will be given to achieve competence in this.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Oxfordshire Community Children's Nursing team provide vital support to children from birth to 18 years with complex nursing needs across the county. The children on our caseload have a variety of chronic and acute conditions and require nursing support such as enteral feeding, long term ventilation and symptom management. The support we provide includes empowering families to care for their child's health needs at home, providing respite sessions, delivering acute and palliative care outside of the hospital environment, and supporting children at school. We are commissioned to provide all of these services within each of our four localities.
This role is based at Abingdon Community Hospital, however we offer a countywide service and travel to other areas/bases is required on a regular basis. Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a car for work.
Our core service hours are between 08.00-20.00, 7 days a week, working contracted hours as a shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays. The manager on call rota operates between 16:00-08:00 weekdays and 24hrs/day over weekends/bank holidays. This role is for 30hrs/week however full time hours of 37.5 hours per week will be considered for the right candidate. If necessary, flexible working adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Qualifications
* Registered Children’s Nurse
* NMC mentor or equivalent
* Evidence of degree level study
* Masters’ degree or working towards
* Teacher/ Training qualification or equivalent
Experience
* Highly developed evidence based professional knowledge & clinical skills across a range of clinical practice underpinned by theory and experience
* Experience of inter professional working and working across agencies / services.
* Demonstrates a clear understanding of professional accountability and code of practice
* Evidence of an ability to facilitate, critically analyse and implement research and audit processes
* Clinical supervisor
* Paediatric nursing skills in palliative care
