Job Description
Complete credit-focused periodic reviews on Checkout.com’s portfolio of Payment Facilitators, assessing the overall credit-worthiness of the platform to support the risks associated with their sub-merchant activity.
Work with the Director of Platform Underwriting to build a comprehensive audit framework for Checkout.com’s portfolio of Payment Facilitators.
Collaborate with cross-functional risk teams (Financial Crimes Compliance, Schemes Compliance, Fraud & Risk Monitoring, Credit Portfolio Management, Legal & Regulatory) to understand and incorporate key considerations from each function in the Payfac audit program.
Coordinate and facilitate annual cross-functional audits for the CKO’s portfolio of Payment Facilitators.
Prepare detailed oral and written summary regarding audit findings, issues, and mitigants to risks. Where applicable, prepare detailed remediation plans (including timelines) to be addressed by the platform.
Work with the Account Manager to deliver shadow underwriting results and monitor corrective actions identified throughout the course of the audit process.
In regions where Checkout.com works with a third party acquiring partner, prepare and deliver a summary of audit results.
Act as an approver for concurrence reviews (for Payfac onboarding & shadow underwriting).
Evaluate and concur on Payment Facilitators' requests for additional restricted lines of business, or sub-merchant falling outside of the Payfac's sole approval authority.
Assist the Director of Platform Underwriting with strategic initiatives tied to process creation/improvements and Integrated Platforms product enhancements.
Qualifications
5+ years of merchant service work experience related to merchant underwriting or equivalent underwriting work.
Familiarity with the merchant processing industry, particularly risk and operational processes.
Expert business model assessment and identification of credit risk exposure.
Deep knowledge of financial statement analysis and analyzing credit exposure.
General knowledge of other risk disciplines (Financial Crimes Compliance, Schemes Compliance, Fraud & Risk Monitoring, Credit Portfolio Management, Legal & Regulatory).
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to navigate complex, project-based work.
General knowledge of Checkout.com’s Integrated Platforms product offering.
Highly curious and thoughtful - a proactive self-starter with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment and a desire to get to the source of anything even the least bit fishy.
A highly analytical team player who loves to evaluate different elements of risk.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision on the work of others.
Strong collaboration skills, and the ability to build rapport with direct teammates and members of other departments.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent experience required.
