We are looking for a strong operational and strategic leader to join us, put their mark on the service, and continue to drive, develop and motivate the special teams we have in place.
The post holder will deliver on the operational management of dental services, providing a high-quality service in line with the Trust's values, suitable and robust governance frameworks, and the achievement of performance targets.
Main duties of the job
As a senior colleague, you will be working closely with the Somerset teams, offering guidance, advice, and support not only for local colleagues but also for the wider service. Collaborating with our Dorset-based Consultant in Special Care Dentistry/Clinical Director and our Specialists, help shape the future of our dental service across both counties.
Community services here in Somerset have historically provided a wider range of services and population access. We are instrumental in developing clinical dental pathways for the South West, our Consultant also being Chair of the SCD Managed Clinical Network.
As well as key input into many stakeholder groups, we enjoy recognition and support from the Trust leadership, and close ties with external colleagues such as the South West Regional Chief Dentist.

Job responsibilities
Based in Somerset, the role requires a minimum of 4 days a week, ideally full-time, but with some flexibility to be negotiated. Key to this role is to demonstrate leadership experience and/or potential to drive forward the service into the future.
Person Specification
* Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
* Experience of working within primary care
* Experience of treating patients with additional care needs including learning disabilities, medically compromised, and people with autism
* Experience of leading and contributing to the strategic direction of dental services
