Clinical Practitioner/ Specialist Clinical Practitioner

We are a large team of practitioners working across the Emergency Surgery and Elective Care Business Unit at Northumbria.
Our team currently consists of:
* Advanced Nurse Practitioner Clinical Lead
* Band 7 Nurse Practitioners / Specialist Clinical Practitioners
* Band 6 Trainee Nurse Practitioners / Clinical Practitioners
* Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners
The practitioner team covers several sites, wards, and departments within the business unit.
The practitioner's role is to provide independent, advanced clinical assessment and management of patients from admission to discharge, working independently of medical staff or remote assistance.
While covering base sites (North Tyneside General Hospital, Wansbeck General Hospital, Hexham General Hospital), they are key members of the cardiac arrest team.
Practitioners provide senior clinical and non-clinical leadership within departments, wards, and sites.
These posts are predominantly based within the orthopaedic team, rotating between Hexham, Wansbeck, and NSECH sites.
This post falls within the provisions of Agenda for Change Annex 20 - Development of Professional Roles, allowing progression to the next pay band upon completion of an agreed set of competencies without applying for a higher-level post.
Main duties of the job
* Provide skilled and knowledgeable care and advice to patients and their carers.
* Complete assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of direct care to patients.
* Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Engage with external agencies to deliver high-quality services for patients and carers.
* Contribute to the development of high-quality services within Northumbria Healthcare.
* Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to foster a collective leadership culture within the trust, demonstrating engagement, empowerment, coaching, and facilitation of teamwork and collaboration across departments and organizational boundaries.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Professional registration with NMC / HCPC / GPC
* Degree-level knowledge relevant to registration
* Recognized teaching/mentorship qualification
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Willingness to complete an Advanced Clinical Assessment Course
* Qualification to supervise, teach, and assess students (to be completed within 18 months)
* Practice development course or equivalent clinical skills training
* Nurse prescriber
* Postgraduate qualification
