Job Title: SEN Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our committed team in East Grinstead. This role is perfect for a qualified educator who is enthusiastic about teaching young people aged 7-19 with special educational needs. As an SEN Teacher, you will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where students can thrive, grow, and succeed academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
* Provide a safe and nurturing classroom environment that fosters student development.
* Plan, resource, and deliver engaging lessons, including accredited courses up to GCSE standard, tailored to the needs of young people aged 7-19.
* Supervise Teaching Assistants within the classroom, ensuring effective support for all students.
* Offer high-quality feedback that encourages rapid and sustained progress for every student.
* Contribute to the development of literacy skills across all students.
* Maintain excellent standards of behaviour for learning throughout the school.
* Collaborate with the Deputy Head of Teaching and Learning to plan and prepare lessons in line with agreed schemes of work.
* Use regular assessments to track student progress, set appropriate targets, and implement necessary interventions.
* Maintain regular communication with parents to report on student progress, behaviour, and other key information.
* Help create a strong and positive school community that reflects the core values of the school.
Experience:
* Experience in teaching young people aged 7-19.
* Experience working with children with special educational needs.
* Method of assessment: Application Form, Interview, and Professional References.
Skills/Knowledge for an SEN Teacher:
* Strong awareness of National Curriculum requirements at all key stages.
* A highly skilled classroom practitioner capable of delivering varied teaching strategies.
* Enthusiasm for teaching and learning, especially in supporting students with SEN.
* Effective lesson planning and behaviour management skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* ICT competency.
* Method of assessment: Application Form, Interview, and Professional References.
Working Hours:
* Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 8:45 AM - 4:00 PM
* Wednesday: 8:45 AM - 4:30 PM
* Friday: 8:45 AM - 3:30 PM (during term time)
* Additional hours may be required to fulfil your role, including participation in six Seminar Days and training sessions.
