Weekend Bank Support Worker
Must have a driving licence and be willing to drive a Grange vehicle (or use your own).
Hours: 8am start for early shifts on Saturday and Sundays 3pm – 9.30pm evening shifts.
Zero hours contract but with the potential to move to permanent in the future. Sleep ins are available with an extra allowance paid for sleeping in.
Opportunities to pick up shifts to support our other sites in Epsom, Bookham and Leatherhead.
About The Role: We are looking for Bank Support Workers to join our small dedicated team at the weekends, working in our house in Fetcham.
Our house in Fetcham accommodates 4 people, with varying levels of support needs. It’s an energetic and fun household and the group love being busy and out and about.
We have a need for bank workers at the moment, but there is the opportunity for this to turn into a part-time permanent contract. You will have a varied role, sometimes working as part of the small team, sometimes providing one-to-one support, and other times working on your own supporting the 4 residents in the house.
By joining The Grange as a Support Worker, you’ll instantly become part of our dedicated community. Our ethos is Person Centred Care and Support, and you’ll see and feel this at every level. We are proud that we do not rely heavily on agency staff, so you’ll get to know your colleagues and the people we support quickly.
As a Support Worker, you’ll need to have natural empathy, great people skills, and a positive approach, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and respect and that we meet their needs and aspirations.
After full induction and training, you’ll help the small group make informed choices regarding all aspects of healthy living and wellbeing, including physical activity, social and community opportunities, support with appointments, work/volunteering placements, and occasionally support on trips or holidays. You’ll also provide support and encouragement when it comes to domestic activities such as laundry, shopping, food preparation, and with medication after training. There’s a huge emphasis on teamwork and you’ll play an important part in a busy committed team of Support Workers, working in partnership with Senior Support Workers, Team Leaders, and Positive Behaviour Champions to ensure we continue to achieve our high standards of Person Centred care and support. You will be supported by a welcoming team and provided with an extensive training programme to help you develop your skills and knowledge.
If you move to become part of the permanent team, we are happy to support people who wish to develop their careers through studying apprenticeships in Level 2 or 3 Adult Social Care and regularly have promotion opportunities for those who want to become Senior Support Workers or Shift Lead.
We welcome applications from any background; you do not have to have prior experience, as long as you share our values of: Friendly, Open, Respectful, Caring, and Enabling.
We know the care industry can be tough, but The Grange brings so much joy to not only the people we support but also to the staff team and wider community too.
About The Grange Centre: The Grange Centre for People with Disabilities provides vital services supporting people with learning disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Our services are most suited for people with mild to moderate disabilities. We are a regulated care provider, a charity, and a housing association, and we provide three services – residential care for those with higher care needs, Supported living for people working towards independence, and Skills & Activities – a wide range of training, work experience, and mini businesses.
