The job itself
Young lady living in Leven – however an anticipated house move to Leconfield may take place in the future.
Personal assistant required for 10 hours per week, with also some availability to cover annual leave and sickness of other workers. The 10 hours per week will be 2 x 5 hours shifts per week. An example could be 7am – 12pm and / or 4.30pm – 9.30pm. There is flexibility with the hours and the days for both family and candidate and these can be agreed each week. Therefore, if you have some commitments i.e., school runs, hours can be worked around. If you have a preference of hours / days, please specify on application / CV. There would be an expectation for availability to cover periods of annual leave of other workers, these are planned, therefore sufficient notice would be given.
Young lady enjoys watching television, listening to the radio and all kinds of music. She has Rett Syndrome, which is a complex physical disability, plus epilepsy. She communicates using Eye gaze Technology and eye pointing.
You will be required to deliver all aspects of personal care/Healthcare. Deliver nutrition by gastrostomy, assist with bathing, administer an airway before sleep, administer medication already set out by parents’ young lady uses a hoist for transfers. The role also includes supporting young lady with accessing education with a private tutor.
All necessary training will be provided.
Ideal candidate would be someone with a background of healthcare, but all training will be provided.
A genuine occupational requirement for a female worker exists for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to privacy and decency.
1. A car driver is desirable – own vehicle not required as one would be provided.
2. DBS/Reference checks will be required – Cost to be met by the local authority.
