About the Role As a Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor, we will look to you to assist in the operational delivery of Nottingham City Council Housing Services’ (NCCHS’) health & safety, and emergency control management systems, ensuring compliance and continual improvement. You will maintain and update our health & safety policies, procedures and guidance, undertake site inspections of offices and workplaces associated with our 1000 mobile staff and provide assurance that health and safety standards in construction, fire and workplace safety are being maintained to reduce risk to staff, tenants and other citizens. You will be responsible for undertaking accident and near miss investigation, identifying lessons learned to reduce risk in the business and to support Insurance in defence of claims. We will also look to you to support the existing team in the management of risks from hand-arm vibration, construction dust and provide management support for our occupational health surveillance programme, carry out training, workshops and toolbox talks. About You The ideal candidate will have: 1. Minimum of NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent and relevant membership of IOSH 2. Ability to demonstrate specialist skills, knowledge and experience in current Health & Safety topics affecting housing providers including Workplace Health & Safety, Construction, Compliance, Building and Fire Safety and Occupational Health 3. Able to develop and present written and verbal information in a clear and concise manner, and to communicate effectively with employees at all levels from front-line staff to senior managers and Trades Union Safety Representatives. 4. Experience of working with others to improve organizational safety culture 5. Proven experience of the practical application of legislation in the workplace 6.
