As the Head of Engineering, you will be the dedicated partner to the business/function for delivering all software engineering solutions within your scope. You will play a strategic role in driving value and impact for stakeholders and customers.
You will report to the Chief Information Officer and build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders to support our goals and vision.
We welcome candidates with extensive technology engineering and product backgrounds who are comfortable managing and leading teams as both a direct line manager and within a matrix organization.

Main Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage a high-performance technical engineering team of approximately 55 people, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
2. Perform all people management activities, including performance reviews, training, development, and coaching.
3. Oversee design, development, and implementation of solutions with IT delivery teams, including Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and third-party providers.
4. Ensure delivery of software through development, testing, integration, and support, following design principles and roadmaps.
5. Define engineering standards and patterns, ensuring consistent and effective delivery.
6. Mitigate delivery risks by collaborating with Change Delivery teams, applying quality management and governance.
7. Maintain adherence to Quilter policies, ensuring governance and assurance.
8. Drive continuous improvement within the software engineering community, recommending technical enhancements to meet business needs.
9. Lead change initiatives and introduce new ways of working to improve customer outcomes.
10. Communicate effectively at senior levels, both written and verbal.
11. Make decisions within your remit and execute swiftly, embracing agile principles.
12. Build and maintain positive relationships, even in challenging situations.
About You

1. Proven experience in a large, matrixed IT environment, including systems analysis, design, and application development.
2. Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
3. Experience transforming and leading a Software Engineering Function.
4. This role is office-based with a hybrid work model (2 days in office, 3 days remote).
5. Understanding of industry best practices and trends, with application within a business context.
6. Experience leading large-scale organizational change from both a technological and people perspective.
7. Strong stakeholder management skills; ability to influence at all levels, including Exco.
8. Experience with Microsoft technologies (Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, MS Dynamics) and portal/mobile app development is advantageous.
