Are you looking for an exciting medical education role for a fixed term period until 24 December 2025 at 0.6 FTE (3 days a week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) at our Northern Campus in Crewe?
We are now recruiting to this role for successful applicants to start in July. PLEASE NOTE, WHILST WE ARE RECRUITING FOR A SIX-MONTH FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT STARTING IN JULY WE CAN OFFER SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES AN IMMEDIATE START IF APPROPRIATE. IRRESPECTIVE OF START DATE, THE CONTRACT WILL BE FIXED TERM UNTIL DECEMBER 24 2025.
This post is an ideal opportunity for a doctor who wishes to develop educational insight and capability. The post holder will work with the unit leads in planning and delivering all aspects of undergraduate medical education in Phase 1 of the curriculum in a variety of different methods. The role has an emphasis on clinical skills and providing clinical context for students learning in early years. As part of the educator team, the position offers opportunities for involvement in a variety of academic tasks including student assessment and applicant selection for places at the medical school.
Main duties of the job
The primary role of the clinical educators is to support the unit leads in delivering group work sessions, to act as group work facilitators and integrate biomedical science in a clinical context for the students learning in the early years.
Secondary to this, there are a varied number of additional tasks which an educator may be required to participate in when opportunities arise. These include:
1. Exam question writing and marking
2. OSCE writing, review and assessing
3. Filming videos for clinical skills foundation course, selection stations, OSCE training
4. Student selection assessing
5. Review and development of teaching materials, including question and model answer writing
6. Delivery of revision sessions (to include both written and OSCE revision)
7. Student Selection Component supervision
8. Personal tutor mentorship for students
9. Involvement in Quality Improvement projects in the faculty
This is not a complete list but provides a flavor of the scope of involvement that the educators have within the Medical School. From time to time, you may be asked to perform additional tasks at the discretion of the Medical School senior leadership team.

About us
The University of Buckingham created the UK's first independent, not-for-profit, Medical School in 2015, with campuses in both Buckingham and Crewe. Our guiding philosophy is to produce highly ethical, honest, and compassionate doctors who will put the patient first. We now have an intake of around 120 students at our South Campus and 80 per year at the North campus. We received our GMC accreditation in May 2019 and our first intake took up their Foundation Training in August 2019.

This post is an ideal opportunity for a doctor wishing to develop educational insight and capability. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical teaching and group facilitation skills. Working 2 - 3 days a week at The University of Buckingham Medical School: Crewe Campus, you will facilitate biomedical science and clinical teaching of first and second year medical students. This will support high quality teaching of undergraduate medical students and is both rewarding and enjoyable. This fixed-term post (0.4/0.6 FTE) is suitable for doctors who have completed the UK Foundation Programme and who wish to build on their personal teaching experience and develop expertise in medical education.
The role leaves time to continue with clinical work for the rest of the week. Working 8.30am to 5.30pm, it gives an opportunity to study for exams and develop interests outside of medicine. The role is also extremely beneficial to your CV and can contribute to points on specialty training applications.

* Postgraduate doctor with a degree in Medicine.
* Current GMC registration with license to practice
* Must hold a valid UK visa and right to work as we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
