We are looking for an experienced nurse to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic team as a Trauma Coordinator. You will co-ordinate the management of all trauma patients, guaranteeing adherence to the appropriate trauma pathway for each patient, and effectively oversee theatre schedules to deliver high quality Orthopaedic Trauma Team Service.
You will need to be a highly motivated individual, who is keen to further develop their nursing skills. You must be dynamic and enthusiastic to ensure best practice and high standards of care are maintained at all times.
Main duties of the job
* To coordinate activity within the trust liaising with other health care professionals to ensure patients are managed effectively and efficiently through the orthopaedic emergency pathway
* To improve the scheduling of surgery, reduce cancelled operations and reduce pre-operative fasting
* To ensure effective communication internally and externally regarding patient care and resources
* Establish effective working relationships with other care professionals whose role impinges on the service i.e., theatre team, Site matron and clinical flow manager, and advance clinical practitioners within orthopaedic team

Person Specification
Experience
* Proven post-registration experience within orthopaedics/trauma
* Proven experience of working at Band 6 level
* Strategic planning
Qualifications
* Registered with The Nursing & Midwifery Council
* Nursing Degree or equivalent
* Management course
Knowledge
* Degree level/undertaking a degree/evidence of degree work
* Knowledge of clinical governance
* Good understanding of Scope of Professional Practice
Skills
* Able to work alongside staff to teach and mentor
* Competent in the application of orthopaedic devices (i.e. skin traction, POP, braces)

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year pro rata
