Since its inception, the V&A’s buildings were intended to exemplify the best of contemporary architecture and design. They are a work of art in themselves, reinforcing the Museum’s mission to educate and inspire its visitors. This philosophy has endured to create the richly varied set of buildings we see today. We are opening two new buildings in East London in 2025, YV&A has recently reopened and we continue to develop our historic estate in South Kensington.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing estate services within a busy, live environment – working with colleagues and clients across the organisation as well as with external consultants and contractors. Ideally you will have a good understanding of listed buildings and experience in a similar environment where providing a superb visitor experience is key.
You will play a critical role in ensuring that the V&A Estate is presented beautifully and will be able to manage a wide range of responsibilities, multiple workstreams and have excellent communication skills, engaging with internal clients, colleagues, contracted suppliers and external agencies. You should be IT literate and have an excellent knowledge of the relevant building and Health & Safety practice and legislation.
Working in the Estate Team you will have the opportunity to define this role as it embeds into the estates team, delivering estate services in a live environment – particularly focused on soft services, grounds maintenance and minor building projects. Flexible working is on offer while we do also promote a positive working environment within our friendly and inclusive Estates team.
The V&A
The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.8 million objects, books and archives that span over 5,000 years of human creativity. * To create a world class visitor and learning experience across all V&A sites and collections.
* Focus and deepen the relevance of our collections to the UK creative and knowledge economy.
* Expand the V&A’s international reach, reputation and impact.
* To operate with financial and organisational initiative and efficiency.
* Showcase the best of digital design and deliver an outstanding digital experience.
* Diversify and increase private and commercial funding sources.
