Personal assistant required, funded through a direct payment, to support a male child aged 17 and his family. Individual has a complex health condition and needs as well as a significant learning disability, which means he requires support in all aspects of his life. The individual uses an electronic wheelchair and the family home has been fully adapted to accommodate this. Training to use specialist equipment such as hoists will be provided. Individual enjoys watching TV, playing on his IPad and responds well to sensory stimulation. Family are very warm and welcoming and are looking for a reliable, individual to support them in their family home to provide support and care for their family member.
Location: Rhyl (Family home and community)
Hours: 5 hours per week (flexible hours and days, some weekend work may be required).
Rates: £12.75 per hour
Main Duties
To provide support…
• To access community based activities, groups and classes as and when required.
• To provide respite for the family by supporting the individual in the family home.
• To provide meaningful interactions and stimulation for the individual.
• Personal care to include support with washing, showering, changing, dressing, eating/feeding (PEG feeding), transferring in and out of electric wheelchair (using a hoist), sitting, and other aspects of daily routine.
• Domestic duties to include support with shopping, cleaning, laundry, ironing and changing linen.
• To support the individual to maintain his health and wellbeing.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
• Full driving license and access to own vehicle (willingness to drive adapted family vehicle if required)
• Experience of working with children with disabilities
Desirable:
• First Aid Trained
• PEG feeding trained (training can be provided)
• PECs communication trained (or willingness to learn)
