About Our Business:
At The Good Food Group, we bridge the gap between innovative brands and major UK retailers. You may not have heard of us, but you've definitely seen our work on the shelves of Tesco, Aldi, Superdrug, and Holland & Barrett. We're revolutionising the VMS, sports nutrition, and healthcare industries through expert account management, product development, and in-house brand marketing. With three years of triple-digit year-on-year growth, we’re scaling fast—and looking for dynamic talent to grow with us.
If you thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where you can take ownership and make an impact, this is the role for you.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and driven National Account Manager to help develop and execute commercial strategies for multiple brands across major UK grocery and discount retailers. This role involves a mix of lots of business development and account growth, making it ideal for individuals with a hunter mindset who thrive in a lean, high-performance team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Own and drive growth within key grocery and discount accounts, managing the P&L.
* Develop and execute retail strategies to optimise brand performance.
* Build and strengthen relationships with retailers and brand partners.
* Identify and secure new listings across existing and new retailers.
* Develop and negotiate Joint Business Plans (JBPs) to drive sales and promotions.
* Work cross-functionally with product development and marketing departments, leveraging in-house brands to bring new products to market.
* Conduct data analysis to track sales, market trends, and opportunities for category expansion.
* Support in forecasting and performance tracking for brands and accounts.
* Provide strategic insights to improve product positioning, pricing, and promotional effectiveness.
Skills Needed to Succeed:
* Entrepreneurial mindset – ability to self-start, develop, and drive initiatives independently.
* Proven experience in grocery retail or discount channels, with a strong understanding of UK retail landscapes.
* Results-driven, with a track record of achieving and exceeding targets.
* Background in business development—this role leans more toward winning new listings than traditional account management.
* Experience in product development or an understanding of NPD processes.
* Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong skills in negotiation, presenting, and closing deals.
* Familiarity with P&Ls, sales data, and category insights.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project management tools.
Who This Role Is Suited For:
This role is perfect for individuals with experience in SME-style businesses, where agility and autonomy are key. We operate as a lean team, meaning we don’t have the infrastructure of a large corporate, but we offer an unparalleled opportunity to make a tangible impact.
If you’ve worked as a Buyer, in Business Development, or in National Account Management within grocery retail, this could be the perfect next step.
* Minimum 1 day per week in the Nottingham office.
* Meetings can be taken off-site if required.
* Hybrid working model, depending on location.
NO AGENCIES PLEASE.
