Advisory Teacher for SLCN Peripatetic Advisory and Teaching Role in Schools and Early Years Settings JOB PURPOSE: ➢ To support the learning and development of pupils with SLCN/DLD ➢ To support understanding of SLCN/DLD through delivery of training to a range of professionals and families ➢ To develop practice that is inclusive of SLCN/DLD in educational settings ➢ To provide training and advice to schools and early years’ setting ➢ To provide advice to the Local Authority for statutory assessment, annual review meetings, suitability of placements and transition plans, as required. ➢ To monitor the quality of provision for learners with SLCN/DLD and to advise, support and challenge settings as appropriate. ➢ To collect and analyse data to demonstrate the effectiveness of interventions and service delivery. ➢ To assist settings/school in planning for oral language support for students with SLCN/DLD ➢ To develop teaching and learning supports that enable more inclusive practice in classrooms. ➢ To advise on teaching resources and adaptations to the school environment to enable optimum access for pupils with SLCN/DLD. ➢ To offer training and support to parents regarding their children’s educational needs. ➢ To contribute to the city-wide training programme for teachers, learning support assistants and teaching assistants Essential: ➢ QTS ➢ Knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and KCSIE 2023. ➢ An up-to-date knowledge and understanding of evidence based interventions to support the learning of pupils with SLCN/DLD ➢ Additional qualifications such as PGCE in Speech and Language Difficulties, MSc in special needs with a focus on SLCN or demonstrated knowledge gained through experience of working in a pupil resource base and/or alongside SaLTs Desirable: ➢ Evidence of on-going CPD related to SEND/SLCN/DLD ➢ Recent and appropriate experience in a teaching or advisory role All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
