The core Band 5 rotations cover the following clinical areas: Stroke: Providing hyper acute and acute rehabilitation working to national stroke metrics and using a range of neuro-rehabilitation approaches Frailty Assessment Unit/Older Persons Medicine: Working as part of the MDT to provide a holistic approach to management on the frailty ward as well as across our general medical wards including functional and cognitive assessments to increase independence and quality of life Acute Medicine/Neurology: Working with the neurology MDT providing specialist input to patients admitted with acute neurological conditions. Also assessing and supporting our palliative patients providing specialist skills to enhance the quality of life for this client group Cardiology/Respiratory/General Surgery: Providing specialist surgical management and enhancing patients surgical pathway to reduce complications and increase independence, and working as part of the MDT to provide specialist respiratory management within the Acute Medical wards using a range of respiratory skills Early Intervention Team: Working within Accident and Emergency and the Emergency Assessment and Discharge Unit to facilitate early supported discharge and prevent unnecessary admissions Orthopaedics: Working to deliver acute, holistic management for a range of trauma including femoral fracture and spinal cord injury.
