Senior Mechanical Engineer
A fast-growing Engineering Business who has been recognised as a prominent player in the ClimateTech is looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their R&D team. This role will focus on the redesign and development of their heating solution, supporting new product introductions, and working closely with cross-functional teams in product, electronics, software, and production. The successful candidate will contribute to the entire product lifecycle, from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities of a Senior Mechanical Engineer:
Product Development: Lead a comprehensive redesign of the heating solution to create a more compact, adaptable format.
Design & Testing: Use CAD, CFD, and FEA for technical analysis; manage component selection, prototyping, and test validation.
Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable lifecycle and design principles to support compliance with environmental standards.
Production Support: Work with production teams to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety in manufacturing.
Requirements of a Senior Mechanical Engineer:
Essential:
5+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering or strong expertise in computational fluid dynamics, thermal calculations, and sheet metal design.
Proficiency in sheet metal design, DFM methodologies, FEA analysis, and CAD/PDM.
Practical experience with prototyping.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (2:1 or higher).
A strong interest in renewable energy and Net Zero initiatives.
Desirable but not a Necessity:
Experience with Inventor FEA, Star CCM for CFD, and thermodynamic analysis.
Skills in high-temperature component design and consumer appliance experience.
Knowledge of UKCA/CE and EN60335 compliance standards.
