The Role
As a Maintenance Plumber within our Estates Section, you will play a vital role in our operations. Your responsibilities include inspection, maintenance, and repair of hot and cold water systems, drainage systems, and storage tanks across HM Naval Base Clyde. You will also carry out maintenance activities to meet legionella requirements.
* Complete all planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-related work to meet departmental objectives.
* Identify and rectify system, manufacturer defects, and alterations to ensure system performance and availability.
* Carry out work in accordance with current processes, and suggest improvements to increase productivity.
* Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work, and BM&T Clyde policies.
Essential Experience
* Previous experience as a plumber working with water, drainage systems, and industrial tanks.
* Legionella sampling qualification is desirable; training will be provided if needed.
* Ability to read drawings, troubleshoot, and problem-solve with high attention to detail.
* Experience with maintenance procedures, risk assessments, COSHH, and Safe Systems of Work.
Qualifications
Recognised Plumbing Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or C&G equivalent) or HNC and above in plumbing with demonstrable experience. The candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance.
Additional Information
This is a full-time role with a 36-hour workweek: 8:05 to 16:45 Monday to Thursday, 8:05 to 12:05 on Friday, onsite at Clyde Naval Base near Helensburgh.
