Are you a part-qualified accountant looking for an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? Join our Cash Accounting team at Next’s Leicestershire Head Office and play a vital role in supporting our growing business.
As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll be instrumental in providing financial insights, managing cash flow, and supporting system projects that enhance customer experience. You'll also help onboard new Total Platform partners and analyse new payment options, ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Finance Management: Oversee Total Platform customer payments for both retail stores and online. Support the Finance Business Partner in managing gift card and voucher transactions (£100m+ annually). Own tender reconciliations for Total Platform business units and resolve discrepancies. Provide insightful financial analysis to key stakeholders.
2. 3rd Party Management: Manage relationships with third-party payment providers (Worldpay, Amex, PayPal, Klarna) to ensure seamless operations. Support the onboarding of new Total Platform partners, ensuring proper reconciliation of settlements.
3. Analysis & Reporting: Use advanced Excel models or SQL to provide ad-hoc analysis, such as assessing new project launches. Monitor key financial performance metrics (e.g., cash flow, accept rates) and report on issues to management.
4. Business Support: Collaborate with marketing, commercial finance, risk & fraud, and operational teams. Adapt to new developments in a high-profile and fast-growing area of the business.
What We’re Looking For:
5. A proactive, part-qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with experience in a large company.
6. Strong financial management and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
7. Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
8. Effective communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
9. Strong control skills and the ability to prioritise workloads under strict deadlines.
10. Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel. Experience with SQL and Microsoft SSMS is desirable.
