Ongoing support workers are needed across Birmingham and Sandwell to work in elderly care settings on a full time 30 hour week basis.
Your new role
Your main role as a support worker will be ensuring the safety and comfort of service users. You will predominantly be working within elderly residential care homes, so as well as carrying out tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home, you should also encourage service users to have confidence and high self-esteem, but most importantly for them to have fun.
You will be working with adults from a variety of backgrounds, with some having experienced trauma in the past. With this, behavior can be challenging, and you will need to be adaptable. Despite the challenges, this will be a rewarding role.
What you'll need to succeed
1. At least 6 months experience in the last 2 years in similar settings
2. Experience and willingness to get involved and be a proactive member of the team, taking part in activities
3. Experience in dealing with challenging behavior
4. Be passionate about supporting service users and giving them the best chances
5. Excellent communication both with service users and staff
