Equans is looking for a Project Accountant to join our team in Newcastle on a 12 month FTC. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
* Identify and lead on process improvements in the Financial Accounting Team, working with the wider finance community to ensure that any changes to central processes represent the best outcome for them. Deliver assigned month end and other BAU requirements.
* Develop policies and procedures that align with the project conclusions.
* Provide stand in support to the Financial Accounting Team Leaders.
* Support system changes by understanding the impact of the change on the financial processes, working collaboratively with the technical and transactional teams to test any changes.
* Take ownership of correcting any errors that have resulted from the change and to issue timely and succinct communications to the finance community to ensure they are kept informed.
* Deliver training to the finance community to ensure the financial processes work as efficiently as possible. This may include SAP, Excel and process training.
* Manage projects, end to end as required by the business, from development of the project scope, liaising with key stakeholders through to conclusion and go live.
* Document the projects, end to end and ensure there is a clear audit trail to procedure changes.
* Manage communications of continuous improvement projects with the Business and Financial Business Partners throughout the lifetime of the projects.
* Ensure adequate training is given to the Financial Accounting team prior to project go live and work hand in hand whilst process is implemented.
* Assist on audit queries coming into the Financial Accounting Team.
* Support wider financial accounting team in complying with month end timetable and meetings SLAs.

Who are we looking for?
* 3+ years qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent)
* Excellent planning and administration skills.
* Proven experience in finance projects.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to proactively take on new work as and when required.
* SAP experience.
