Senior Legal Counsel, UK Employment
We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel, Employment Law (UK) to join our team in London, UK.
The Senior Legal Counsel (Employment Law) functions as a contact point and discussion partner for the business units for all employment-related legal affairs, including matters of substantial operational and/or commercial importance.
Key Accountabilities
* Advises and takes a leading role in the preparation and determination of resolving disputes and settlement agreements in relation to employees, thereby helping to bring about a result which is in the best possible interests of the Company. Will liaise with external lawyers in the event of legal proceedings being taken.
* Gatekeeper in minimizing legal risk in relation to the matters addressed.
* Provides legal advice to HR and the Business, including reviewing policies and procedures. Keeps track of new legislation and advises the Company of such and assists with the implementation of required legal amendments to policies and procedures.
* Maintains contacts with business/company lawyers and takes part in study groups on various legal subjects.
* Provides expertise in works council matters.
* Drafts, negotiates, and advises on a wide range of legal employment matters (such as restructures, individual complex issues, TUPE, large framework agreements for outsourcing), as well as negotiating, drafting, and reviewing commercial contracts.
* Works with HR and Business Services procurement team on Contingent Labour Contracts.
* Provides general commercial legal support depending on capacity (e.g., contracts for the purchase of business and customer services).
* Advises in other legal areas where necessary.
Knowledge & Experience
* Relevant years of working experience in the employment area with a University Master of Law degree. Knowledge and experience of Dutch law required. Some level of experience of cross-border employment and/or European/International employment law desirable.
* Good knowledge of the law and of other specialist areas within it (e.g., contract and commercial law), and practical legal experience in a (international) business context or a law firm.
* Experience in providing solid legal support on general policy issues.
* Good organizational skills.
* Negotiating skills and social skills in representing interests and providing advisory work.
* Ability to interact professionally with all levels and cultural backgrounds in the organization.
* Writing skills for expressing matters, contracts, reports, etc., in legal terms accurately and inventively.
* Needs to be a team player with a hands-on mentality.
* Experience or ability to work in a dynamic, high-paced organization.
* Good level of spoken and written English needed.
