We are recruiting for a small contracting company who work on rail projects, civil engineering schemes and building maintenance sites across the UK. This Office Manager & Bookkeeper role is a new position due to business growth. Currently operating from a depot near Tewkesbury, they will be moving to new more central offices in Tewkesbury early 2025. They employ around ten people but this flexes through agency staff to match the workload.
Bookkeeping duties will include:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using SAGE
• Manage accounts payable and ensure timely processing of bills and payments
• Reconcile bank statements
• Prepare monthly financial reports (creditors, debtors, P&L, cash-flow, etc.)
• Raise Purchase Orders
• Payroll & work-based pension administration
• Complete periodic VAT returns
• Manage CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations
• Prepare client invoices & statements
• Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts
• Support financial audits
Office Manager duties will include:
• Maintain quotation register and follow up communications with clients
• Create project folders and save project documentation
• Maintain project records, order book and workflow tracker
• Maintain supplier & purchase order register
• Help prepare and implement office policies and procedures
• Set up and manage the office
• Organise meetings, training and events
• Communicate with staff & stakeholders
Skills and Experience
• Qualification in bookkeeping/accountancy
• Knowledge of SAGE accounting software
• Experience of a similar role in a small business
• Good communications skills, both writing and verbally
• To be self-motivated but able to work as part of a team
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• A positive attitude
Hours of Work & Location
This is a full-time role of 35 hours per week, these will mostly be standard office hours though flexible arrangements may be agreed to suit. Attendance at the Tewkesbury office most days with some home working when appropriate.
Salary £30K - £33K
