Finance Officer Ref. 3391\n\nDepartment: Finance, Audit and Procurement\n\nLocation(s): Central Manchester, Cheltenham, London\n\nSalary : London: £37,281 or £38,602 (specialist pay band), Cheltenham and\nCentral Manchester: £34,777 or £36,178 (specialist pay band)\n\nJob description\n\nFlexible Working: Due to the sensitive nature of the role, youll be based in\nthe office five days per week. However, we know how important a good worklife\nbalance is, which is why we offer part-time (minimum 4 days) and compressed\nhours, with flexibility around start and finish times.
And you wont take your\nwork home with you. Full time hours are up to 37 hours, depending on location.\n\nAbout Us\n\nMI5 keeps the country safe from serious threats like terrorism and attempts by\nstates to harm the UK, its people and way of life. We carry out investigations\nby obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence, and then work with a range\nof partners, including MI6 and GCHQ to disrupt these threats.
Through our\nprotective security arm, we provide advice and guidance to government,\nbusinesses and other organisations about how to keep themselves safe. We currently have roles across\na variety of teams, including Financial Analysis, Financial Accounting and\nReporting, and Financial Operations.\n\nAs one of our Finance Officers, youll be a key part of managing our annual\nexpenditure. Depending on where you join, your work will have a slightly\ndifferent focus.
In Financial Analysis, youll provide vital insights that\nhelp us make decisions across the agencies. In Financial Accounting and\nReporting, youll summarise, analyse and detail the UK Intelligence Services\nfinancial transactions. Or theres Financial Operations, where youll ensure\nwere able to respond to ever-evolving business needs.\n\nWhichever team you join, youll be involved in the overall running of our\nfinance function.
Youll build and maintain effective relationships with\nstakeholders, both internal and external, working closely with them to ensure\na consistent approach to financial advice and processes. And youll use your\ncommunication skills to help you explain finance requirements to colleagues\nand customers who might not be familiar with financial concepts.\n\nYou might be producing reports and completing analysis on them, offering\nfinancial advice, or ensuring purchase orders are actioned and requisitions\nare raised correctly. And youll be involved in month and year-end processes,\nhelping your colleagues across mission teams, enabling functions and beyond to\nget their finances in order and meet requirements.\n\nAnd youll do it all as part of a welcoming, supportive workplace thats\ncommitted to helping you fulfil your potential.
