You’ll be creating advanced software used by a range of teams to simulate and analyse complex physical processes within the nuclear reactor core. This software will be a vital tool to help scientists and engineers solve problems quicker and make more informed decisions.
We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.
Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.
What you will be doing:
* Developing analytical software and tools to support the design, manufacture and operation of nuclear power plants for the Royal Navy.
* Creating advanced software used by a range of teams to simulate and analyse complex physical processes within the nuclear reactor core.

* Maintain software quality and integrity by rigorously testing and fixing bugs throughout the development and upkeep process.
* Create software solutions that enable engineers, technical experts, and Rolls-Royce’s customers to derive data-driven insights, enhancing decision-making processes.
Who we are looking for:
* Experience in at least one of Python, Fortran and C++.
* Experience developing/supporting high quality code that is interpretable, documented and tested.
* A delivery focussed mindset, able to make decisions that make the best compromises between complexity and shipping value.
* Strong communications skills, capable of delivering presentations, reports and conducting meetings with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
* You will have a numerate, degree level education (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives.
