This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional to join the Enhanced Perioperative Care Unit (EPOC). This is a rapidly developing service which supports the delivery of holistic, high-quality care to surgical patients at increased risk of adverse outcomes.
Successful Candidates will have the unique opportunity to help shape this service to enable the EPOC unit to become an outstanding new addition to the surgical perioperative pathway.
Main duties of the job
EPOC is a bespoke built unit, comprising of 10 beds cross-site of post-operative patients from a variety of specialties including Maxillofacial, ENT, HPB, Plastics, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Vascular, Upper GI, Urology, Orthopaedics, Spinal surgery, Neurosurgery and Thoracics. Patients will be cared for at a higher level of care, 1.5, with staff caring for 2 patients each. This unit will have input from a variety of members from the Multi-Disciplinary team including Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Acute Pain Specialist Nurses, CCOT and Critical Care Pharmacists.

* Current level one NMC registration or HPC registration part 1.
* Degree / Diploma in Nursing or Health Care.

* Evidence of further training and development.
Clinical Experience
Essential
* Previous experience in an acute hospital setting.

* Previous experience in Recovery, Critical Care, Surgical ward or similar.
* Experience of acute pain management.
Communication

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Previous experience using Trust software: Medway, Bluespier, NOTIS, Nervecentre.
