Job Summary
You will be responsible for dealing with and raising safeguarding issues, responding to crises, and managing incidents that occur during your shift. You will also ensure accurate recording of data and completion of safeguarding tiers, referrals to Adult Social Care, and mental health services as appropriate.
You will work collaboratively with the Independent Living Mentor to help individuals engage with their support and move on plan.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
1. Manage referrals and complete inductions when on shift, adding information accurately to the work management system.
2. Support people in a positive, trauma-informed way by focusing on their personal development and goals.
3. Oversee the running of the building and ensure adherence to all rules, policies, and procedures.
4. Work as part of a team to achieve the best interests for everyone, liaising with other professional agencies.
5. Ensure individuals understand financial management in preparation for independent living.
6. Maintain privacy and dignity for all individuals.
7. Develop knowledge of local community resources and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies.
8. Promote and encourage attendance at training and support groups.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Suitable candidates should have:
1. Ability to network and work effectively in a multi-agency context.
2. Excellent listening skills; qualification in Health/Social Care or Counselling desired.
3. Understanding of complex needs and how to facilitate support for vulnerable individuals.
4. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written (English).
5. A can-do attitude and willingness to undertake a varied workload.
6. Resilience and ability to handle challenging behavior.
7. Empathy with individuals while maintaining professional boundaries.
8. Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness.
9. Awareness of key public health messages.
10. Experience of working with and supporting volunteers and staff with lived experience.
